Stay Healthy

The last thing you want to deal with when you get home is con crud. To avoid, consider the following:

  • Take vitamins leading up to and during con. Ensure that your immune system is as strong as possible. If you decide to take Airborne (or some generic equivilant), don't take more than 2 or 3 per day as the high doses of vitamins can be damaging to your health.
  • Wash your hands frequently. Hand sanitizer isn't a good substitute for soap and hot water, as it just pushes dirt and germs around rather than eliminate it, but is better than nothing.
  • Don't share drinks. Try to keep your own, or only share with those you know. This is for safety as well as sanitary reasons.
  • Get enough sleep. Try to get at least five hours a night if possible.
  • Get enough food. Try to get at least one decent (wholesome) meal a day and remember to drink some juice and water to counterbalance the amount of caffiene and alcohol you're likely to be consuming. Protien and granola bars sound like a good idea until you've eaten four in one day -- pick up a fruit cup or something.

Don't be Gross

Repeat the mantra: Other people can smell you. On elevators, escalators, in restaurants, at panels, at parties and at the bar. And chances are you're sharing a hotel room with at least three other people, they can certainly smell you too.

  • Bathe regularly.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Keep a few breath mints on hand.
  • If you plan on wearing a single costume for more than 6 hours, air it out and/or use febreeze. Its hot, crowded, and you will sweat.
