Program Guide abbreviation: ARM

Held in the Hyatt, Kennesaw and Inman rooms.

Knowing is half the battle.

The other half? WEAPONS!

The Armory, unique to Dragon*Con and directed by Kevin Dockery, is intended to give writers, artists, and readers a chance to view and learn about real weapons. Writers, and curious members, can learn from a knowledgeable team about various weapons, how they're used, and what the capabilities truly are in order to properly portray them in their works. Artists can see the real weapon first hand in order to present an accurate portrayal, or a springboard for new designs, in their works. Readers can see first hand the chosen arms of their literary heroes, heroines, and villains. Weapons displayed range from the basic stone knife, through machine guns, and into the world of explosives, including tactical nuclear and improvised varieties.

Panels are also held nearby on topics ranging from proper procedures for force escalation, to use of the body as a weapon, weapon care, legal hurdles, where and how to find quality reference materials and information, and more.

Special Rules

Given the nature of the display, there are special rules that must be adhered to at all times. Security, included uniformed Atlanta Police Officers, are stationed in the room at all times.

  1. No Touching the displays without approval of the security team (Red Armory shirts)
  2. No unsupervised children under the age of 21. (Management reserves the right to trade unclaimed children for ammo.)
  3. Photography is allowed.
  4. No weapons, ammunition, or tactical gear, real, fake or peace-bonded, is allowed in the display room.
