Since 2001, the Dragon Con Parade occurs every year at 10:00 am on Saturday morning and features ~3,000 participants.

Watching the parade

The parade was re-routed in 2013 due to construction of the streetcar line. The parade forms in the vicinity the intersection of West Peachtree Pl and West Peachtree Ct. The Parade then goes down Iven Allen Jr Blvd and turns up Peachtree St. The parade then passes in in front of the Hyatt and AmericasMart, turning left just before the Westin onto Andrew Young International Bvld and left again on to yet another peachtree, Peachtree Center Ave. The parade ends between the Hyatt and Marriott. A copy of the route can be found in the Pocket Guide.

The parade is also re-broadcast on Dragon ConTV a few hours after the parade's conclusion and later Saturday night. In 2014, the parade was broadcast live.

Participating

The Dragon*Con Parade is managed through the Parade Yahoo! Group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dc_parade/?yguid=189948497

Registration to participate in the parade typically opens in February. Since 2011, all available spaces in the parade have been filled prior to the convention. Onsite registration has not been available.

To participate in the parade, join the Yahoo! group.  Then go to the left sidebar and click on Database > 2014 (or current year) Parade Registration > Add Record (upper right hand corner).  Then fill out the information.  To edit the information you entered before contact a moderator with your update.

The Parade staff groups entrants by costume type, so even if you are not a part of another "anime" group, you will be marching near them.  If you wish to enter in a group that already exists in the database then contact that group's contact and ask for permission.  Many groups are very nice and welcome new members.

Once the con begins, find the parade registration desk (usually in the Sheraton) and pick up your parade ribbon.  The ribbon attaches to your badge and allows you to march in the parade.  Then meet up at the designated time and place on Saturday morning.
